Expanded Biography
Renato moved to California in 1965 and grew up in the Central Valley. Started out as a Civil Engineering Major. His primary study was Traffic Design. In 1987 Renato graduated with a B.S. in Civil Engineering. In February 1988 he moved to Southern California, started work with a small testing laboratory (Soil and Testing Engineers, Inc.). Starting out as a Staff Engineer he learned the ropes of testing materials such as concrete, reinforcing steel and some soils. It was at this time when Renato became involved in Southern California’s ACI Chapter. I became a trainer for the Grade 1 Technician Program.
In September 1991 Renato went into a partnership and started up another small testing Laboratory called Concrete Engineering Services, Inc. He was Vice President in charge of the laboratory which dealt with concrete and aggregate testing for the Ready Mix Industry. In 1993 he became a Registered Civil Engineer in the State of California. Then in January 1998 Renato came to work for National Ready Mixed Concrete Company, where he started the Quality Assurance program and Technical Assistance Department. He is presently still working for National R/M as part of a team in the Technical Assistance Department.
Career Achievements: Helped in the development of a high early concrete mix for Dept. of Transportation—Caltrans, now known as the “4 X 4 System”
